Trends with tresses this festive season
November 27, 2009

Getting a new haircut in time for Christmas but not sure what to do with your tresses? GHD Style Lounge national education manager Craig Hopkins sums up the trends.

  • Short cut

Short hair this season is extremely short with blunt lines, lots of layers and a heavy fringe.

  • Mermaid waves

Long hair is neither straight nor curly. The look is a slight, natural-looking wave which gives the hair movement and texture.

  • Braids

Not cutting, just styling for an outing? Go big on braids. Runway models are wearing milkmaid braids across the fringe, and so can you.

  • Schoolboy cut

Men are moving away from the grunge look this summer and opting for a more tidy schoolboy cut. If it is to be worn long, it has to be neat and tidy.

  • Summer tips

Don't leave conditioner in your hair as it serves no purpose. Rather invest in a product with a UVA filter to protect your hair from the summer sun.

Also be sure to use a deep-cleansing shampoo on your hair after a swim to ensure you remove all the chlorine.
