Going batty over loving vampires
November 11, 2009

  By Billy Suter

From one thriller to another - Nu Metro Cinemas has announced that pre-bookings in South Africa for the second film in the hit Twilight vampire series, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, have officially overtaken the company's advance ticket sales for the Michael Jackson concert documentary, This Is It.

More than 8 000 people have already booked for the film, which stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. (Ed's note on November 11: Nu Metro advises that pre-sales now stand at over 14 000).

According to Mark Harris, marketing head for Nu Metro Cinemas, more than 60 percent of bookings have been for midnight screenings being hosted on Friday, November 20.

"In addition to the midnight screenings, The Twilight Saga: New Moon will also screen from Sunday, November 22, until Thursday, November 26, at select Nu Metro Cinemas, at 5.30pm daily. The film then releases nationally on Friday, November 27," adds Harris.

The film sees pale heroine Bella Swan (Stewart) turning her attentions to werewolf Jacob Black (a newly buff Lautner).

Good news for die-hard fans of the series is that the first film, simply titled Twilight, is scheduled to return from this Friday until Thursday, November 19, at select Nu Metro Cinemas.
