PICK OF THE DAY
Late show with David Letterman
Sony Entertainment
11.15pm

"I play tennis for a living, even though I hate tennis, hate it with a dark and secret passion, and always have."
If you can prop the old eyelids up long enough, Andre Agassi, tonight's main guest, might be worth staying up for, if only to grind your teeth, if you are a tennis fan.
The question has already been asked, but why put the game in such disrepute after you, as a major and very popular player on the worldwide circuit, have managed to keep your dirty laundry shoved deep down the bottom of the basket?
For Agassi to promote his new autobiography, Open, of course. (Maybe Joost took some pointers.)
Major revelations have already made the headlines. He used crystal meth in 1997 and lied to drug-testing tennis officials.
After Agassi's hair started to fall out, aged just 19, he wore a hair weave.
He was born with a condition called spondylolisthesis, which can pinch the nerves in the spine and cause sharp pain. Hence he came to rely on cortisone injections to relieve pain.
Documentary series
Hayden Turner's wildlife challenge
National Geographic Wild
8.30pm
****
Apparently this lucky on- air conservationist used to be a senior keeper at Taronga Zoo in Sydney. Hayden Turner was showing some VIPs around on a tour behind the scenes, impressed the general manager of National Geographic and, lo and behold, is now a presenter for the channel.
Turner has the sort of passion for wildlife that gets noticed. Sadly, I can't source specific information about tonight's programme, but a reader who called tells me Turner is "superb".
Sci-fi drama
Heroes III
SABC3
9pm
****
They're back - and if you have not caught this series already on DStv, be ready to lock and load for Volume III: Villains - The Second Coming.
An international catastrophe looms - of course it does...
Sylar has declared war on The Company for a start.
The question is how to use all those powers our heroes possess for the greater good, particularly when a dozen "savage criminals, with terrible abilities" have escaped.
Medical series
Don't die young: The stomach and intestines
BBC Knowledge
5pm
****
The title is such a magnet... and tonight it's all about your insides, which, no doubt, you have been punishing of late. 'Tis the season for gluttony and to completely disregard anybody who dares to even raise an eyebrow.
Using some "unusual tests and techniques" (as the stomach turns), Dr Alice Roberts explores the stomach and the intestines - and the effects of a poor diet. On second thoughts, watching will only give us a guilt complex.
