Cape Town - Cape drivers have been urged to user alternative routes after a bakkie lost its load, which contained flammable liquid on Tuesday afternoon
Spokesperson for the City’s traffic department, Maxine Bezuidenhout said that the N1 outbound is closed at Jip De Jager, after a bakkie lost its load.
“The Fire & Rescue Service has confirmed that the load contained flammable liquid.
“Traffic is being diverted onto Jip De Jager in the meantime – motorists are advised to expect delays; alternatively, please avoid the N1 until further notice by using alternative routes,” Bezuidenhout said.
Recently, traffic officers were also busy on Cape Town roads having arrested 66 motorists of which 51 were for driving under the influence of alcohol, four for reckless and negligent driving and 11 for various other transgressions.
Officers also recorded 28 828 speeding offences, issued 27 264 fines for various traffic violations, executed 2 614 warrants and impounded 224 public transport vehicles.
