Durban — A 45-year-old man was arrested for allegedly shooting dead a mother in Phoenix recently.
Police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said on Thursday, September 22, at 7.45am, Phoenix police received a complaint of a murder and proceeded to Redfern Drive in Phoenix.
“On arrival, they found the body of a 40-year-old woman with a gunshot wound in the abdomen,” Ngcobo said.
“Police arrested a 45-year-old man for murder, but the motive for the killing is unknown.”
KZN VIP reported that a mother was shot and killed while a 10-year-old child cried for help.
Spokesperson Garrith Naidoo said KZM VIP response units were dispatched to reports of a shooting incident at Redfern Drive in Phoenix, where a woman was shot and killed by a known suspect.
“The suspect fled the scene prior to KZN VIP and SAPS arrival,” Naidoo said.
“A provincial ambulance was called out to the scene and sadly declared the female dead.”
