Durban — Police are still searching for two alleged business robbers who fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash and customers’ vehicle keys, while two of their accomplices are expected to appear in court on Monday (today).
The suspects allegedly robbed a business in Esikhaleni in northern KwaZulu-Natal on Friday at 10pm.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala said that employees and customers at business premises at Moholoholo in Esikhaleni were held at gunpoint by three armed men.
Gwala said that the suspects demanded cash from the cashiers, cellular phones and vehicle keys from the customers at gunpoint.
She said police were immediately alerted and activated all the resources. They reacted immediately to the business robbery, and the team secured all exit points and entered the shop.
“Two suspects, aged 31 and 34, were arrested on the scene, and one was found in unlawful possession of a firearm and six rounds of ammunition. A getaway vehicle, three cellular phones belonging to the suspects and two wallets belonging to the suspects were seized by police. Other items recovered are five cellular phones and an undisclosed amount of cash,” Gwala said.
“Two suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and vehicle keys belonging to customers. They are still being sought by police.”
Gwala said the suspects are appearing before the Esikhaleni Magistrate’s Court today (Monday).
