Hey Neighbour has finally announced the first headline act for season two of the highly anticipated event, allowing all those who have been waiting in anticipation to breathe a sigh of relief.
Award-winning musician Doja Cat has been announced as the first headline act.
Renowned for her genre-defying sound, chart-topping hits, and captivating stage presence, Doja Cat has taken the music world by storm with smash hits like "Say So", "Kiss Me More", "Paint the Town Red", and "Woman".
Her dynamic performances and boundary-pushing artistry have solidified her as one of the most exciting and influential artists of her generation.
Doja Cat, real name Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, will perform in the country for the first time, much to the delight of her local fans. Her visit to the country in August will be a kind of homecoming for the superstar, as this will be the first time she will be in the land of her father, actor Dumisani Dlamini.
Last year, Doja Cat opened up about having never been to South Africa and how she allowed her career to take her to places. Things have aligned much to the delight of local fans.
“We are beyond excited to welcome Doja Cat to the Hey Neighbour Festival stage,” said Glen Netshipise, CEO of Hey Neighbour Festival.
“Her energy, creativity, and ability to connect with audiences on a global scale make her the perfect artist to kick off what will be an epic festival lineup. This is just the beginning—we have more incredible acts to reveal soon!”
Despite not having visited South Africa before, Doja Cat has always shown the country love; she has worked with music group The Joy, even bringing them out to her Coachella performance and wore an outfit with the country’s flag at the “Global Citizens Festival” stage in New York City’s Central Park.
