Looks like South Africa might get to see Drake live in 2025.

According to sources, Mabala Noise boss Reggy Nkabinde, alongside Malcolm X and Gregory Wings, is in talks to bring the Canadian superstar back to Mzansi.

It’s been almost a decade since Drake last touched down on our shores, when he filmed the music video for “Controlla” back in 2016.

Now, it seems like plans are in motion for him to return with something much bigger.

Nkabinde, Malcolm X, and Wings reportedly had a meeting at a high-end Sandton hotel to discuss bringing the “6 God” back. Rumour has it that Wings, who faced a major flop after the Burna Boy concert last year, is determined to turn things around with this one.

According to “TshishaLive” source: “Gregory wants to move on from the failed Burna Boy concert and focus on a new chapter as a promoter.”

“The Burna Boy concert dented his image and he lost out on a lot of funds through legal fights in retrieving the money used to host Burna Boy. But the Drake concert looks certain as he is speaking with the manager daily.”

Nkabinde, with his track record of bringing big stars like Chris Brown and Migos to South Africa, is also involved. According to insiders, his involvement signals that this plan is legit.

“uGovner [Nkabinde] brought in his expertise. His credentials bringing international stars can be easily traced, and he won't enter into such talks for something that won't mature.”

Wings himself confirmed that discussions with Drake are happening. “Bringing Drake to South Africa for his first stadium show is not just about the music; it’s about celebrating a pivotal moment in black history,” he said.

“The show is being titled The Freedom Show to commemorate the 30-year anniversary of the abolishment of apartheid, and I believe it’s a significant tribute to the resilience and spirit of the South African people.”

Wings added that after his struggles with last year’s failed Burna Boy concert, he’s more prepared this time.

“I’ve learnt the hard way about the importance of safeguarding my investments. This time I’ve taken every precaution to ensure that this event is executed flawlessly. I’ve spent the last year immersing myself in the culture and building relationships within the South African entertainment industry.”

Not only is he self-funding the show but he’s also partnered with Ticketmaster for secure ticketing and YouTube for a live stream of the concert.

He even hinted at future plans, saying, “My ambition is clear: I want to be the Live Nation of Africa, bringing top-tier international acts like Travis Scott and The Weeknd to South Africa’s shores in the coming year.”

Malcolm X added: “Reggy brought Chris Brown, Migos, and French Montana to South Africa. Gregory paid Burna Boy for the concert that was supposed to be held at FNB Stadium, but due to unforeseen circumstances, it didn’t happen.

“Now all three of us are focusing on bringing Drake to South Africa, Angola, and Nigeria early next year."

While there’s no confirmation just yet, all signs point to the possibility of Drake performing in Mzansi in 2025.
