Tito Jackson’s death could affect the appearance of his sister Janet Jackson, who is scheduled to perform at the DSTV Delicious Festival in Joburg this weekend.
The music industry is grieving the death of Tito, a member of the renowned family band, the Jackson 5 and brother of the late Michael Jackson.
Tito Jackson's sons, Taj, Taryll, and TJ, confirmed his death on Instagram on Sunday.
“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson, is no longer with us. We are shocked, saddened, and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being.”
The Jackson family remembered Tito as “Coach Tito” or “Poppa T. It will forever be ‘Tito Time’ for us. Please remember to do what our father always preached, and that is ‘Love One Another.’ We love you, Pops.”
In light of this devastating news, there is growing concern regarding his sister Janet’s upcoming scheduled performance at the DStv Delicious Festival.
The event will take place this weekend at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Johannesburg and Janet Jackson was scheduled as one of the head liners at this year’s event.
The DSTV Festival organisers acknowledged Tito Jackson’s death and extended their condolences to the Jackson family.
“We have recently learned, alongside the rest of the world, of the sad and untimely passing of Tito Jackson, brother to our 2024 DStv Delicious Festival head liner, Janet Jackson. Our deepest condolences go out to the entire Jackson family during this difficult time.”
The festival organizers have confirmed they are in communication with Janet Jackson’s team, but no decision had been made by Monday afternoon.
“At this moment, we are in communication with Janet Jackson’s team, and while no decision has yet been made regarding her performance at the festival, we are committed to keeping the public and the media informed as soon as we have more information,” they said.
The organisers have urged the public to refrain from speculation and to show sensitivity during this period of mourning.
“We kindly ask for sensitivity and understanding during this period as this news is still very fresh. We will share updates as soon as they are available and urge the media to avoid speculation during this time of uncertainty,” they added.
