Tyla, the "pretty girl from Joburg" threw some fun, witty shade at the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards, causing the audience to erupt in laughter.
The BET Hip Hop Awards took place at Drai’s Beach club & Nightclub in Las Vagas last week and aired on Tuesday night.
One stand out moment was when the 22-year-old global star presented the “I Am Hip Hop” award to US rapper Travis Scott alongside singer-songwriter Teyana Taylor.
She introduced the award and shared her experiences working with the rapper, as they previously collaborated on the remix of her hit song “Water.”
She sparked laughter among the audience when she jokingly referenced her experience at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), where she asked Lil Nas X to help her hold the Best Afrobeats award because it was too heavy.
“Congratulations, and come up here because, yey, this one is also very heavy,” she joked.
