Actress Annie Macaulay-Idibia is reportedly receiving support from fellow celebrities Tiwa Savage and Toke Makinwa following the announcement of her divorce from Nigerian music legend, Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba.
According to an Instagram post by Nigerian blogger Stella Dimoko Korkus, the “Young, Famous & African” reality TV star is allegedly in rehab and struggling with the fallout from her marriage.
Makinwa has become a vocal advocate for her friend, expressing her thoughts on the situation through Instagram.
On her Instagram stories, she openly challenged the timing and nature of 2Baba's public statements regarding their separation.
“Nobody is asking anybody to stay in a situation that’s not serving them any purpose anymore, by all means leave if you must but why bring this online this very moment?” Makinwa expressed, pointing out the complexities of their relationship that remain unknown to the public.
“We know what is going on behind closed doors. The world doesn’t know anything, it’s already been hectic with opinions flying around and when I say we will fight for her I’m not talking about the general public.
“A handful of people know the truth and time will tell. Timing is everything, empathy is everything.”
Makinwa’s statements followed 2Baba’s earlier announcement of his separation, which he soon deleted from his Instagram page.
The sudden turn of events has brought renewed scrutiny on the couple’s tumultuous relationship, which has been plagued by allegations of infidelity and public drama since they tied the knot in 2012. They have two children together.
A year later, the couple celebrated their union in a civil ceremony in Dubai.
