Gospel singer, TV presenter, and businesswoman Winnie Mashaba has been recognised with a prestigious lifetime achievement award at the recent Gospel Diva Awards in Polokwane.
The event, which celebrates remarkable women in the gospel music industry, highlighted Mashaba's dedication and talent that has significantly shaped the genre and inspired many.
Despite being unable to attend the awards ceremony in person, the honour was received on her behalf by her manager, Karabo Mashaba, and Kutullo Moagi.
In her heartfelt speech, which was delivered by Karabo Mashaba, she expressed her gratitude for being acknowledged during a month dedicated to celebrating the bravery and contributions of women in society.
Mashaba took the opportunity to pay tribute to the pioneering women who have played a significant role in advocating for freedom and amplifying the voices of others.
“These are some of the women who stood up and made their voices heard. I’m talking about the following pioneers, Sophie de Bruyn, Albertina Sisulu, mama Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, Helen Joseph, Lilian Ngoyi and the list continues,” she said, acknowledging their enduring impact.
During her speech, Mashaba also reflected on her musical journey, noting that Limpopo is the province where her musical career began.
“Twenty-six years later, I am getting a lifetime achievement award,” said Mashaba.
Expressing her gratitude for the support she has received over the years, she described her music career as bittersweet, emphasising that her passion for music has been instrumental in overcoming challenges and pursuing her aspirations.
“I’m so grateful and humbled by the love and support I’ve received over the years. I’m really grateful to my supporters,” she added.
Mashaba extended her appreciation to Bold Moves Management for honouring her with this prestigious award, acknowledging the significance of this recognition for future generations who will be able to read about her accomplishments for decades to come.

Additionally, with this remarkable achievement, Mashaba also shared exciting news with her fans on Instagram. She announced an upcoming concert titled "One Country Concert", scheduled to take place at Meropa Casino in Polokwane on August 24.
