During a recent podcast interview, Nota Baloyi, a controversial music producer, made questionable remarks about white South Africans, resulting in a backlash.

Baloyi was doing a media interview when the subject shifted from music to his views on white people in South Africa and how their genetic make-up impacted their liaisons with Africans.

He called white people inhuman and deemed them to be inferior to black people.

"White people came here. They need to assimilate to our culture, not the other way around. It's bad enough we speak their language with proficiency they can not even master ...

"They need to assimilate to ubuntu, that is the only way we can co-exist within this environment, otherwise we will slaughter all of them, drive them to the sea, literally," he said at the time.

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) received several complaints over Baloyi's comments and had launched an investigation.

Now, in a viral video, Boloyi has apologised for his insensitive remarks.

"I wish to extend my heartfelt apologies to anyone who felt threatened or hurt by my words. I understand the importance of fostering a culture of respect, and I am committed to turning this incident into a learning experience both for myself and for the people who follow my content," said Baloyi.

He added: "I believe that through honest dialogue, sincere apologies, we can work towards healing and reconciliation. I am committed to his process and to rebuilding trust."

Baloyi said that he is also willing to go back on the same platform where he made the remarks, to apologise and take the additional steps required to demonstrate his remorse.

"My remarks were made on a dialogue on South Africa's oppressive past, however, I understand that his context does not excuse my words. I am committed to addressing the underlying issues and working towards a more respectful and constructive dialogue in the future."

He noted that this incident has been a significant learning experience for him.
