Eminem, the legendary American rapper, has revealed he is about to become a grandfather in the music video for his song “Temporary.”
The music video, released on October 3, is from his latest album ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)’, which features Skylar Grey.
In the video, the 51-year-old rapper, born Marshall Mathers, reflects on his relationship with his daughter, Hailie Jade, incorporating clips from Hailie’s childhood and her recent wedding in May.
The music also shows Jade coming behind her father with an ultrasound image while holding a blue shirt with the the word “grandfather” written on it. It is still not known where the blue shirt means they are expecting a baby boy.
Jade also took to her Instagram to confirm the news, while holding an ultrasound image, with her husband, Evan McClintock, with the caption “Mom & dad est. 2025.
Jade, who grew up in the spotlight thanks to her father’s music career, has since become a social media influencer and podcast host.
Her relationship with Eminem has been a central theme in his music over the years, with songs like “Hailie’s Song” and “Mockingbird” detailing his dedication to her.
In “Temporary”, Eminem delivers an emotionally charged message to Hailie, touching on his fears about mortality and the legacy he leaves behind.
The lyrics convey his desire to comfort her, saying: “When a heart breaks, it ain't broken forever. The pieces will grow back together and in time, I'll be fine. The tears are temporary.”
The song also mentions Hailie’s siblings, “Look after Alaina, Stevie, and Uncle Nate and, sweetie, be strong. I know I was your rock and I still am, saying goodbye is just not ever easy, why you.”
He also reassures Jade that despite life’s hardships, she will always have his support.
He raps: “Jade, it’ll be okay, baby, I’m here. I’m watchin’ you right now, baby girl. I vow I will protect you, your guardian angel.”
