The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards have announced their 2025 nominations, with "Wicked" stealing the spotlight with five nods.
The announcement follows the musical’s big wins at the Golden Globes earlier this week, where it bagged Best Motion Picture (musical or comedy) and Best Actor for Cynthia Erivo.
The nominations were shared online after the live announcement was cancelled due to the Los Angeles fires.
The awards ceremony, hosted by 'Nobody Wants This" star Kristen Bell, will stream live on Netflix on February 23.
After sweeping the Golden Globes, "Wicked" maintains its dominance in awards season.
The film received nominations for Outstanding Performance by a cast in a motion picture and Outstanding Stunt Ensemble in a motion picture.
Its stars Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, and Jonathan Bailey also earned individual acting nods, cementing "Wicked" status as a top contender.
Other recent Golden Globe winners are also back in the race.
Timothée Chalamet, who won Best Actor Drama for his performance in "A Complete Unknown", is nominated for Outstanding Male Actor in a leading role.
Meanwhile, "The Bear", which took home Best Television series comedy at the Globes, received SAG nominations for outstanding ensemble in a comedy series, as well as individual nods for Jeremy Allen White, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Ayo Edebiri.
In the television categories, "Shōgun" leads with multiple nominations, including outstanding ensemble in a drama series and outstanding stunt ensemble in a Television series.
Other notable nominees include "The Diplomat" and "Slow Horses", both of which are recognised for their strong ensemble performances.
Some big names were left out of the 2025 SAG awards nominations, despite their Golden Globe recognition.
Angelina Jolie and Hugh Grant missed out on nominations in the outstanding actor categories, while Sebastian Stan, who won a Golden Globe for "A Different Man", did not get a SAG nod either.
Nicole Kidman was also snubbed in the outstanding female actor category for her role in "Babygirl".
In the supporting male actor category, Golden Globe nominees Denzel Washington and Guy Pearce were left off the list, with Jonathan Bailey (Wicked) and Jeremy Strong (The Apprentice) getting unexpected nominations instead.
Similarly, in the supporting female actor category, Selena Gomez, Isabella Rossellini, and Margaret Qualley were passed over, allowing Monica Barbaro, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Danielle Deadwyler to take the spotlight.
This year’s honours include a special moment for acting legend Jane Fonda, who will receive the SAG Life Achievement Award.
The accolade, which recognises career achievement and humanitarian contributions, makes Fonda the 60th recipient of the award.
“I am deeply honoured and humbled to be this year’s recipient of the SAG Life Achievement Award,” Fonda said in an October press release.
“There’s no honour like the one bestowed on you by your peers."
