The Jacob Zuma Foundation, through its patron former president Jacob Zuma, is set to bring festive cheer to both young and old in Nkandla this week.
A series of activities have been lined up to ensure that residents from the rural areas enjoy the season just like their urban counterparts, the Foundation’s spokesperson Mzwanele Manyi revealed this week.
Manyi indicated that there was a great deal of excitement from locals as they would get a chance to have a normal Christmas and aside from locals, there would also be beneficiaries of the Jacob Zuma RDP Education Trust that falls under the foundation.
“You should come and witness for yourself the joy and the change that the bursary has brought to the beneficiaries,” he said.
The Trust has been able to support students from struggling families through donations that are made by businesses and individuals and has seen individuals graduating as doctors, engineers, and lawyers.
He said the activities that are planned for the week ahead will include:
*a senior citizens’ outreach event which is scheduled for Friday December 27
*a children and youth outreach event which is set for Sunday December 29
and a traditional dance which will take place in the new year.
The events are scheduled to take place at Mnyakanya High School sports ground in kwaNxamalala rural village, and a large turnout is expected.
Zuma, through the foundation has over the past years thrown parties for senior citizens and children in his village managing to put smiles on faces of both the young and old.
The local kids get a chance to play on jumping castles during the day of fun and festivities, and the event has become a must attend for many.
