Canadian musician Grimes has publicly expressed her discomfort after former partner Elon Musk brought their son, X Æ A-Xii—affectionately known as X—to a press conference at the White House.
The conference featured President Donald Trump and was centered on Musk’s plans to reduce the federal workforce through his newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), took an unexpected twist as footage of the four-year-old interacting with the two prominent figures spread online.
Following the viral videos, Grimes took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to voice her thoughts on the matter.
Responding to a fan who complimented X for his polite behaviour, Grimes remarked, "He should not be in public like this. I did not see this, thank u for alerting me. But I’m glad he was polite. Sigh."
Lil X was very polite today! You raised him well. He was so cute when he told DJT “please forgive me, I need to pee”. 🥰
Her comments reflect a mother's concern over her child’s exposure to the public eye and the implications of such appearances.
The couple, who ended their four-year relationship in 2022, are navigating complicated co-parenting arrangements amid their ongoing legal disagreements.
Grimes' comments shed light on the struggles of balancing public life and private family matters—especially when it comes to their children, who, as she indicates, may not be ready for a spotlight they did not choose.
This isn't the first time, the four-year-old has stolen the spotlight “Little X” surprised the crowd at the Capital One Arena in Washington DC by following his father onto the stage in January.
As Musk addressed the crowd of 20,000, X ran onto the stage, much to his father’s amusement. “Sorry, Little X followed me up here. He’s very excited to be part of this,” Musk told the audience with a smile.
