The traditional categories of Type A and B moms are being challenged by a new parenting style.

Welcome to the playful world of Type C moms, a growing phenomenon that combines the best of both worlds.

Historically, mothers have often been pigeonholed into two distinct types.

The Type A mom is frequently recognised for her high drive, impeccable organisation and exhaustive planning.

She stands out with her lengthy "To Do" lists, yet this can also lead to stress when the unpredictable nature of life interrupts her well-laid plans.

Punctuality is a hallmark of the Type A persona and any delays from others can become a source of frustration.

On the opposite end of the spectrum lies the Type B mom, characterised by her relaxed and easy-going approach to parenthood.

Emphasising flexibility, Type B moms often embrace the concept of benign neglect, allowing their children to explore, learn and grow independently, thereby nurturing resilience and independent kids.

But as modern demands on mothers evolve, so too do the identities they claim.

Enter the Type C mom, a refreshing blend of the meticulousness of Type A and the carefree nature of Type B.

TikTok is buzzing with videos of these mothers, showcasing their unique ability to balance organisation with spontaneity. They might have their schedules lined up but are equally unbothered when the dishes pile high or when toys create delightful chaos across the living room floor.

Type C moms celebrate the fact that it’s perfectly okay to not have everything under control all the time. In a series of viral videos, we see mothers laughing about their chaotic moments, sharing snippets of their lives where order coexists with a touch of irresponsibility.

As the Type C slogan goes, “I have a plan, but I also have a life", the rise of this new mom type is a comforting reminder that it’s alright to blend rigorous planning with occasional disorder.

As mothers open up about their experiences, they foster a community that celebrates imperfections, encouraging other parents to embrace their quirks.

In this time of unprecedented challenges and heightened societal expectations, the Type C mom is emerging as a role model who can inspire a new generation of parents to honour their individuality and redefine success in motherhood.
