Bentley is commemorating the 60th year of Queen Elizabeth's reign with a very special bespoke edition of the Mulsanne Luxury sedan, created by the company's Mulliner coachbuiding division.
Only 60 will be made - and this is the very first example, on show now at Auto China in Beijing, which is appropriate, given that China has now overtaken the US to become Bentley's biggest market.
The Mulsanne Diamond Jubilee is an intriguing mix of traditional and modern, powered by Bentley's venerable 6.75-litre V8, which dates back to the early 1960s, but tweaked for the new millenium with two turbos and good for 375kW and 1020Nm at just 1750rpm, taking this three-tonne luxury liner from 0-100 in 5.3 seconds and on to 296km/h.
UNION JACK COLOURS
The car is finished with special paint and hide colours in various combinations of red, white and blue (the Union Jack colours) with special Bentley 'B' badges on each D' pillar.
The interior is a practically wall-to-wall walnut veneer, with deep pile mohair carpets underfoot and seamless, hand-crafted fir and finish throughout - complete with the Diamond Jubilee motif embroidered in gold thread.
Price, as they say, on application.
