Seen here in a test video, the new Mini Countryman rally car has very big shoes to fill (remember Paddy Hopkirk, Rauno Aaltonen and Stirling Moss’ sister Pat in the giant-killing rally Minis of the 1960s?) but BMW and British race developer Prodrive seem to be taking their mission seriously. The new Countryman WRC, motivated by a turbocharged, 1.6-litre engine from BMW Motorsport, will be entered in a few World Rally Chanpionship rounds in 2011 before tackling the full series in 2012.
