Five men were shot dead in a shack in the Madikizela informal settlement, Mfuleni, on Sunday afternoon, December 1.
The Western Cape police spokesperson, Brigadier Novela Potelwa said police were called out to the scene.
“Information gathered from the scene indicates that Mfuleni police were called out to the Madikizela informal settlement at approximately 1.30pm, and upon arrival, they found the bodies of five men with gunshot wounds, between the ages of 19 and 30, in a shack on the corner of Polisa and Deputy Streets,” said Potelwa.
“The motive for the shooting is the subject of a police investigation currently undertaken by the provincial serious violent crimes investigators. No arrests have been effected yet.
A murder docket has been opened by Mfuleni police as they appeal to the public for help.
They are urging anyone with information that could assist in identifying those responsible to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS app to share details.
In a similar incident, it was reported that Western Cape police were searching for suspects linked to a mass shooting incident in Atlantis on Wednesday night, October 23, that left five people dead and five injured.
Potelwa said five people, aged between 18 and 30, sustained fatal injuries, while five others were rushed to a medical facility after sustaining gunshot wounds.
She said Atlantis police have opened murder and attempted murder dockets for investigation.
