A vicious fight between two men at a Limpopo village turned deadly, leaving a 66-year-old man lifeless and a suspect facing murder charges.

The suspect, 39, will appear in the Praktiseer Magistrate's Court on Monday, February 10, accused of murder.

Limpopo police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said, the fight broke out at Ga-Ramauba village on Friday, February 7.

"According to the information received, a fight broke out in a residential area between the suspect and the deceased. It is alleged that the suspect hit the old man with an iron rod, resulting in the loss of life," said Ledwaba.

When police arrived at the shack, they found the victim lying on the floor with a head injury and a fractured leg. Emergency medical personnel were called but declared him dead at the scene.

The suspect, who also sustained injuries, was arrested immediately and taken to hospital for treatment. He faces a charge of murder.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fight, including what led to the fatal attack.
