Studyclix seeks to lessen the challenges for education in South Africa through the application of new technologies.
Developed with permission from the Department of Basic Education (DBE), Studyclix is a unique platform that takes past NSC exam question papers across eight school subjects and breaks them down into topics and sub-topics with detailed teacher-created mark schemes, videos, and notes.
Studyclix worked with expert teachers in South African schools to create enriched memos with teacher tips, quizzes, flashcards, guidance, and resource recommendations.
Physical Sciences Teacher from Rondebosch Boys’ High School, Lynne Arnott had the following feedback to give after learning about Studyclix:
“I am so excited to be using Studyclix, a self-paced learning tool that my students can use to actively improve their own understanding of the curriculum. Studyclix assists learners to go through past papers and assess their own understanding, and where and why they are losing marks.”
According to Whitney Williams of Studyclix, the website has a feature that allows teachers to make custom tests using the database of past exam questions with automated mark schemes to print or share online.
It also has a feature that allows teachers to set self-correcting quizzes across any topics and view performance to identify specific areas to be targeted.
Matriculants can search and select questions according to various topics from hundreds of official past papers and check their answers against the memorandums developed by teachers.
They can also use flashcards and take topic quizzes that are automatically marked with instant feedback to mark areas they should focus on more.
Subjects included on the platform are Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy, Physical Science, Life Sciences, Business Studies, Economics, History and Geography.
