The man who cannot be named until he pleads because he faces a charge of rape was arrested a week ago.

He is believed to be a religious leader in the area.

According to the charge sheet the rape incidents took place during 2024 and again in Februaury this year in the Chatsworth area.

The charge sheets reveals graphic details of the rape.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

In a similar story involving a religious leader, in September last year charges were provisionally withdrawn against a Chatsworth church leader who was arrested on allegations of rape.

The man who cannot be named was accused of raping a 14-year-old girl who was in his youth group.

He was arrested in March 2024 by the Directorate for Priority Crimes Investigation (known as the Hawks), where tapes and sex aides were seized at his home.

After a lengthy bail application, the man was eventually released on bail at the end of April 2024.

Commenting on the charges being withdrawn at the time, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson in KZN, Natasha Kara, said investigations were still outstanding.
