Police at Malamulele, under the Vhembe District in Limpopo, have launched an extensive manhunt for a man who allegedly killed his lover, a 39-year-old teacher.
The lifeless body of the teacher was found at her home on Tuesday, Sasekani village in Basani.
“Police were alerted about a murder incident in the area and rushed to the scene of the crime. On arrival, they found a family member who pointed out a one-roomed house that was closed,” said Limpopo provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.
Police officers forcefully opened the door of the room and found the lifeless body of the woman lying in a pool of blood.
Members of the emergency medical services (EMS) were called to the scene, and they declared the 39-year-old victim dead at the scene.
“Further investigations revealed that the woman stayed with a male person whose whereabouts are currently unknown,” said Ledwaba.
“The deceased who is said to be an educator at a local primary school and the said male were reportedly staying together at her residence.”
Police said the cause of the tragic incident which resulted in the “senseless” killing remains unknown at this stage. A domestic-related dispute has not been ruled out.
Ledwaba said a massive manhunt for the known man who is a suspect in the murder case has been intensified.
