As the Betway Premiership season approaches its climax, Mamelodi Sundowns have solidified their position at the top of the table, boasting an impressive 12-point lead over Orlando Pirates.

With only a handful of matches left in the season, Sundowns' consistency has been a key factor in their success

Yet, the spectre of Orlando Pirates looms large. Having played fewer matches than Sundowns, the Buccaneers hold the potential to close the gap dramatically if they can secure victories in their outstanding fixtures.

Following a challenging season characterised by inconsistent performances and a struggle to find form, the appointment of Arthur Zwane and Vusumuzi Vilakazi has sparked a renaissance at AmaZulu.

The co-coaching duo brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective that looks set to re-establish the KwaZulu Natal based side as a formidable force.

Support from the club’s hierarchy has also fortified this revival, with management backing the new strategies and embracing a long-term vision for success by acquiring the likes of Bongani Zungu and Nkosikhona Radebe in the January transfer window.

The 2024/25 campaign is heating up as the relegation battle intensifies among four clubs—Royal AM, Magesi, Marumo Gallants, and Richards Bay.

With the end of the season approaching, the stakes have never been higher for these teams, each fighting fervently to avoid slipping into the lower division.

The certainty surrounding the expulsion or selling of Thwihli Thwahla has thrown in another dynamic in this year's run in with all four teams uncertain of their final spot with the play-offs and direct relegation position still a reality for all four.
