EFF President Julius Malema has urged members of the organisation to rebuild the party in KwaZulu-Natal.
Malema said the MK Party took the organisation by surprise in the past general elections, which resulted in major electoral decline for the EFF in the province.
“The truth is the old man in Nkandla has shocked all of us and we will never allow that shock to happen again and we will rebuild the EFF. We will return to the battlefield. We are here in KZN on a fact finding mission to find out uyenzini uZuma to take our numbers because all of us are in shock,” EFF leader said.
Malema, while addressing members of the EFF at uMgungundlovu regional general assembly on Sunday, reminded his members that the responsibility of bringing the ANC to its knees was initiated by the EFF.
“This thing of bringing the ANC down was started by us, it will be finished by us, no one will finish our job, we are going to collapse the ANC together with the DA.”
He reminded supporters that the DA once said the only opposition in the country was the EFF, saying that party members in KZN needed to take their “rightful position” by working tirelessly in making sure they regain the lost ground in the province.
The EFF support has dropped significantly in the province. The party was actively trying to understand and rectify the causes behind its significant loss of votes in KZN, a province that once held considerable promise for the EFF.
The visit included crucial central command team meetings as well as its “war council” on Friday, followed by regional general assemblies across the province.
The party’s woes were made worse after the exit of its former deputy president, Floyd Shivambu, who had been deployed in KwaZulu-Natal in the lead-up to the polls.
Themba Mvubu, eThekwini regional chairperson, said despite all the issues that were facing the party, many had renewed their membership.
Mvubu said the organisation in the region was running a campaign where all branches or members were encouraged to renew their membership, adding that the regional central command team members have all renewed their membership.
