Ekurhuleni Metro city manager Dr Imogen Mashazi has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for two years, after being found guilty of contempt of court for repeatedly ignoring an arbitration award favouring SA Municipal Workers' Union members. Despite multiple court orders, Mashazi failed to implement salary adjustments dating back to 2017, with the Labour Appeal Court dismissing her defence as "tenuous".
