South African music producer Luc Lavigne has turned his passion for music into an impressive career in the heart of Hollywood. Lavigne, originally from Melkbosstrand, has been based in Los Angeles for the past two years. A few months after graduating from the Musicians Institute as an Audio Engineer in April 2024, where he specialised in studio recording, production, songwriting, mixing, and mastering, Lavigne had the chance to contribute to projects in some of the most prestigious commercial studios in the world.

“I've been fortunate to work in iconic studios such as Chalice Recording (where artists like Beyoncé, BTS, Shakira, and J Cole have recorded), Paramount Studios (home to Justin Bieber, Eminem, Jack Harlow, and others), East West Studios (with clients like Olivia Rodrigo and John Legend), Sunset Sound (where legends like John Lennon and The Black Keys have recorded), Elemental Recording (known for work with Dr. Dre, Earth Wind & Fire, and Snoop Dogg), and Rostrum Studios (with artists like Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa),” said Lavigne.

“Additionally, I've had the privilege of working with renowned record labels such as Rostrum Records, Sony Music, Interscope Records, Def Jam Records, and others, contributing to projects that are shaping today's music scene and artists.”

“In 2024, I had the honour of producing, mixing, and mastering the track 'CP Company' by Rav Steelo. The song has already achieved impressive milestones, including reaching the 'Viral Top 50' on Spotify (voted by Spotify UK), climbing to #48 on the Shazam Top 200 and Top 50, and becoming the biggest gainer on LocalPulse in Bristol and Manchester.”

“Rav Steelo's latest single, produced, mixed, and mastered by me, has earned further recognition with a #1 nomination for 'Artist on the Move and Trending Tracks' by Shazam, accumulating over 3 million streams and 30 million views on social media in just three months.”

“Also, one of my most fulfilling roles has been to be the primary recording engineer for the global children's YouTube series SadieTV, which boasts 30,000 subscribers and has amassed over 10 million views.”

Lavigne pursued becoming a versatile instrumentalist throughout his teenage years. However, it was during this time that he discovered a new love—music production.

“The art and craft of bringing a song to life, from recording various instruments to the complexities of songwriting, mixing, and mastering captivated me. The entire process of shaping a track into something ready for radio was an exciting and fulfilling journey. I am grateful for having achieved so much at such a young age. I have learnt that hard work and determination pay off.”

Having just started the new year of 2025, Lavigne already had numerous credits released, with one of them being "Any Other Way" by South African pop/pop punk artist Anica Kiana. Shortly after release, the song was placed in a top playlist curated by Spotify, "The Hottest Global and SA Pop Tracks," with “Any Other Way” and Anica being the front cover photo of the playlist.
