The iconic musician and composer, Lebo M, will be  treating his Cape Town audience to something extraordinary when he takes the stage on the 18 April.

Lebo M, the legendary composer behind some of the most iconic soundtracks in cinema history, will take the stage at the Grand Arena, GrandWest for a live concert that promises to be a night to remember.

For anyone who grew up in the 90s, Lebo M's work is a part of their childhood. His unforgettable track, “The Circle of Life”, became the soundtrack to nearly every child’s memories of The Lion King.

It’s a song that continues to evoke nostalgia and magic, and it’s a testament to the incredible talent Lebo M has shared with the world. Now, he’s bringing that magic back to his home crowd in Cape Town.

“This concert is a big deal for me,” Lebo M shaired.  “It’s my first concert in South Africa, Cape Town, and it brings this mix of excitement and fear.

“But it’s positive stress—a reminder that you’ve got to bring your A-game. You can’t get complacent. You need to deliver, especially in the Mother City.”

This concert marks nearly 40 years of Lebo M’s groundbreaking work.

From his early days with The Power of One to reshaping the music of The Lion King, he has redefined African music on the global stage.

With Grammy Awards, an Oscar nomination, and work as a UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador, his contributions go beyond music to positively impact the world.

The 18 April concert will feature a star-studded line-up. Lebo M will be joined by Hans Zimmer, the legendary composer of The Lion King, alongside MiCasa, the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Nkosinathi Shabalala, and Lebo M’s daughter, the renowned singer-songwriter Refi Sings.

“I’m looking forward to sharing this moment with Cape Town.

“It’s about leaving a legacy and showing that we can create a South African production that meets international standards. I want to over-deliver. This is a legacy project for me, and I’m excited to share it with the audience.”

For fans eagerly awaiting the performance, Lebo M has a treat in store: a new song. “We’ll be debuting a new song,” he shared. “Will it be as good as ‘Circle of Life’? We will have to wait and see, but what I do know is it sets the tone for something great and I know it’s possible.’

If his past work is any indication, this new release is sure to captivate.

Lebo M also made mention of his recent contribution in the sequel of the Lion King, Mufasa, where he got the opportunity to be a lone composer working with director Barry Jenkins.

Referring back to his upcoming concert Lebo M said its not just a performance, but a chance to come home.

“It’s about reconnecting with the people who have supported him throughout his journey.

“Having worked with legends like Elton John and Barry Jenkins, this is my time to show that you can come from South Africa and create something that competes on the global stage,” he concluded.
